SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is hosting a global town hall at Twitter headquarters to talk foreign policy with users of the online messaging service.
Ambassador Susan Rice will be taking questions from around the world Thursday morning via Twitter and from employees at the company's San Francisco office.
The town hall will also be broadcast live over the Internet on the video streaming service Ustream.
The meeting comes amid worldwide discussion of the role of Twitter and Facebook in the uprisings in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere.
The U.S. State Department has also ramped up its use of social media in diplomacy, including the launch of an Arab language Twitter feed Wednesday.
Twitter users are being asked to submit questions starting at 10 a.m. PST (1200 GMT) using the hashtag AskAmbRice.
