Shashi Tharoor making news again

NEW DELHI: Former minister Shashi Tharoor is making news again over payment of money by the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games for consulting work.

The payment is not supposed to be illegal as it was part of the consultation fee.

Tharoor, who was forced to resign as union minister following a controversy over Kochi IPL ownership last year, said the consultancy services were rendered between September 2008 and January 2009 out of New York before he entered public life and had no relationship with the government. The amount involved is $30,000.

He added: "There is nothing illegal, unethical, immoral or improper about my having rendered paid services to a nationally-supported international endeavour. (SAM News)
