UN Center for Sustainability will be built in Incheon

Sha Zukang, Under Secretary General of the United Nations, it is now considered to build UN Center for Sustainability in Incheon, which would be a outpost for sustainable development said after he attended to Green Korea 2010 held in Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Amid lots of others attention, he said UN has already agreed to build the center in principle and it is discussing on this project with UN Energy Department.

He emphasized that Korea would play a role model to contribute to green economy in developing countries through Green Growth Project and it would be true to construct the UN Center for Sustainability in Korea, he added.

Young, Soo Gil, Co-chairperson of Green Growth Commission explained that there has been made no actual result, but discussed a lot about sustainabli development, which is a priority task of UN. He said For that reason, they are highliting on sustainability of green growth in korea to attract the UN Center for Sustainability and finally it is discussed currently.

According to him, UN is now looking at Korea to identify where we can contribute to solve some challenges including poverty problem in developing countries. If it is proved to be possible, the UN Center for Sustainability will be built in Korea.
