Green Economy, Trade and Sustainable Development

Key experts and practitioners in the field of development economics and international trade, led by UNCTAD SG Supachai and Rio+20 Conference SG Sha, will assemble in Geneva on 7-8 October, 2010 to identify and discuss the key conditions that must obtain for a green economy to be an engine for sustainable development through trade. The Ad Hoc Expert Meeting is being organized by UNCTAD in close collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the United Nations Environment Programme. It aims to explore ways in which the green economy, through trade-led growth, could become a pro-development income-generating instrument that will directly contribute to meeting the sustainable development imperative universally adopted at Rio in 1992. The outcome of the meeting will be submitted as a direct input to the Rio+20 preparatory process. Follow the event online at: click here
